Using Quicktime
A feature of some GenEdWeb courses is the ability to view files that contain digital video. Some of these files require either RealPlayer or the QuickTime multimedia viewer from Apple.
If you don't already have Quicktime (version 3.0 or above), you can download it from the Apple Web Site. Quicktime is available for both Mac OS and all versions of Windows. To view a QuickTime file in your Web browser, you must have the QuickTime Plug-In installed on your computer.
When you install QuickTime it will configure your browser to launch it automatically when you click on a QuickTime file link. This will allow you to both view digital video and listen to digital audio.
To test your installation of QuickTime, click here.
To control QuickTime 3, use the play/pause button, stop button, rewind button, and fast forward button. You can also adjust the volume by clicking on the audio button. If you wish to view the video again, just click the play button again.
To see more information about the QuickTime Plug-In, view the QuickTime information page at the Apple Web Site.
