New Semester Checklist

As a new or returning student enrolled in GenEdWeb courses, you will receive an orientation letter with a list of your online courses, your UMM Student ID number, and your UMM Internet ID and E-mail account. Please refer to your orientation letter as needed during your online orientation. This orientation will take about 45 minutes to complete, and is required for all students who are new to GenEdWeb.

Step 1: New students
  1. Initiate your UMM Internet ID and E-mail account
    Refer to your orientation letter for your Student ID number (7 digits) and your UMM Internet / E-mail ID. During the account initiation process, you will choose a password that will be used with your Internet / E-mail ID to access online course materials and your UMM E-mail account.

  2. After you initiate your UMM e-mail account, check your e-mail several times a week for messages from your GenEdWeb instructor. All GenEdWeb students (even non-UMM students) are required to check their UMM e-mail account while enrolled in a GenEdWeb online course.

    Read the hardware and software requirements for GenEdWeb to download or update tools on the computer you will use during your online course.

Step 2: New online courses (all students)

  1. Get your textbooks

  2. Review the GenEdWeb Exam Policies
    Complete a proctor request form for each of your GenEdWeb courses that requires a proctored exam

  3. Transcript Requests:
    Send UMM transcript to another university
    Send UMM transcript to your high school (PSEO only)

Step 3: Go to your course web site and read the syllabus

  1. Visit the GenEdWeb portal

  2. Click the "Sign-in" link at the top of the portal browser window to visit the GenEdWeb portal page and access your online course materials.

  3. Read the GenEdWeb portal page for your online course (course link in left menu).
